Swift Current Broncos News Release
Swift Current, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos remain red hot on home ice after a 4-1 win over the Everett Silvertips on Sunday afternoon.
The Broncos got the party started early as Clarke Caswell's seventh of the year just four minutes into the game. Josh Fluker made it 2-0 Broncos almost six minutes into the game and after giving up a goal just 33 seconds into the game on Friday night against Portland, the Broncos got off on the right foot.
Broncos Assistant Coach Taras McEwen said at least the first 10 minutes or so were very good.
"Definitely happy with how we started, right until the first T.V. timeout," McEwen said. "We talked about how happy we were with how we were managing pucks, getting pucks in, holding pucks in the offensive zone, and then it kind of changed after that."
Everett did have their chances in the first, but Reid Dyck stood tall for the Broncos stopping all 12 shots he faced in the frame.
Ty Coupland scored a powerplay goal late in the first to make it 3-0 as the Broncos took that lead into the intermission.
The Silvertips came out in the second guns blazing as they fired 16 shots towards Dyck in the frame, only scoring on a late powerplay courtesy of Carter Bear.
In the third, the Broncos locked things down and Josh Filmon added a late empty net goal to make it 4-1 and the Broncos earned their second win in a row and fifth straight on home ice.
"There's a lot of positive energy," McEwen said. "We want to continue pushing and getting better every day, I think there's still a lot of room for growth with our group."
The Broncos will host the Wenatchee Wild on Wednesday back at the InnovationPlex.
