Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Durham Bulls in the third game of a four-game series at Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd will look to build on a dominating 8-2 win over the Bulls on Friday night. On the mound for Buffalo will be LHP Jeremy Sowers. Sowers is looking for his first win of the season for the Herd since being optioned on June 14. Durham will counter with RHP Jae Seo.

NORTHERN LEADERS: The Bisons have been in first place in the IL North division since May 5 (64 consecutive days). The Herd is coming off of consecutive series wins against Scranton/WB (2-1) and Rochester (3-1).

RED-HOT HERD: The Bisons have won 12 of their last 16 games. Buffalo is now 13-games over the .500 mark. This is first time all season in which the Herd has been up this many games.

TOP OF THE LEAGUE: After an 8-2 win Friday night against Durham, the Herd continues to have the best record in the International League. At 49-36, their .576 winning percentage keeps them a head of Toledo (.573) and Richmond (.558).

ALL-STAR SLUGGER: Ryan Mulhern went 2-4 last night, improving his hit streak to eight games (.438, 14-32). His .323 overall average is 3rd in the IL, along with his slugging percentage (.543). He also leads the Herd in HR (12), and RBI (50).

EVERYBODY'S SAFE: Friday night, all nine Bisons players reached base safely at least once. Luis Rivas was the lone Bison to reach on a walk delivered by Durham's pitching staff for the night. Four Bisons hitters had multi-hit efforts in the game: Ryan Mulhern (2-4), Jonathan Van Every (2-4), Jason Cooper (2-4) and Andy Marte (2-4)

STREAKS FOR ALL: Four Bisons players are currently on hot streaks. Brad Snyder leads the team with a nine game hit streak, while Ryan Mulhern (8), Andy Marte (7), and Jonathan Van Every (7) are all in close pursuit. Franklin Gutierrez and Ben Francisco currently hold the record for longest hit streak on the team this season with 19 games.

CAN'T EARN A RUN: The Bisons bullpen has been ripping through teams lately. The pen has allowed just three earned runs over their last 27.1 innings of work. That's good for a 0.98ERA. In the last 16 games, the bullpen has posted a 0.72ERA with only 38 hits allowed in 50.0 innings (10R, 4ER, 11BB, 44K).
