
Childers Returns To The Mound Today

OTTAWA - RHP Matt Childers has been activated from the Lynx Suspended list and will start the back end of today's day/night doubleheader in Scranton. IF Danny Sandoval was placed on the Lynx Temporarily Inactive list and IF Jesus Merchan has been transferred to Ottawa from Double-A Reading.
Childers, 28, went on the Disabled List May 15th with a knee injury. He was transferred from the DL to the Suspended List June 16th. At the time of his injury, he led the Lynx staff in wins (4) and was second on the team in innings pitched (37.0) and strikeouts (26). He has a career record of 46-64 in 311 career Minor League games and made his Major League debut in 2002 with Milwaukee.
Sandoval, 28, is hitting .254 with 2 HR and 15 RBI in 73 games with the Lynx this season. He is a career .281 hitter in his 11th professional season. He played 31 games with the Philadelphia Phillies over the 2005 and 2006 seasons, earning a .200 average and driving in four runs.
Merchan, 25, leads the Reading Phillies with a .353 average this season. He has hit 3 HR and 30 RBI in 64 games with the R-Phils. He is a career .280 hitter in his first eight professional seasons and this will be his first appearance at the Triple-A level.
