Richmond, VA- The Richmond Braves drilled the Syracuse Chiefs 12-1 Saturday at The Diamond. The Braves exploded for 15 hits while holding the Chiefs to just three and gained a split of their four game series.

The Braves grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Jonathan Schuerholz and an RBI ground out by Iker Franco. Schuerholz doubled two runs home in the fourth and Franco chased another home with a single to give Richmond a 5-0 lead. The Braves tacked on two more in the fifth on an RBI single by Larry Bigbie and an error. Richmond batted around in the sixth to add four more runs. Bryan Pena doubled two runs home and two more Syracuse errors permitted another pair of runs as the Braves opened an 11-0 lead. The Chiefs avoided a shutout in the eighth on an RBI single by Ray Olmedo. The Braves capped the scoring in the home half on a run-scoring single by Graham Koonce.

Trey Hodges allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings to earn the win. Victor Zambrano took the loss. Bigbie had four hits. Schuerholz knocked in three runs.
