INDIANAPOLIS -- Designated hitter Jon Knott finished 3-for-4 and a home run short of the cycle, while right-hander Cory Doyne picked up his International League-leading 26th save as Norfolk registered a 4-3 win over Indianapolis in front of 9,502 Saturday night at Victory Field.

The Tides improve to 41-48 overall and 21-28 on the road, while the Indians fall to 48-40 on the season and 28-16 at home. The Tribe continues to lead the IL's Wild Card race by 1.5 games over Louisville.

Knott (3-for-4, 1 RBI) roped his first triple of the campaign in the second, collected an RBI double in the sixth and tallied a single in the eighth.

Doyne (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 1 SO), who has now converted 26 of 27 save opportunities, is now tied with Derek Wallace for Norfolk's single-season save record.

Indianapolis cracked the scoreboard in the first when LF Michael Ryan (2-for-4, 1 R, 3 RBI) cracked his sixth dinger of the campaign -- a two-run bomb to right. RF Adam Boeve (1-for-4, 1 R) led off the inning with a base knock to left and scored ahead of Ryan.

Norfolk narrowed the deficit by plating a run in the third. C Ryan Hubele (2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI) doubled to center and scored on CF Tike Redman's (1-for-4, 1 RBI) single to right.

The Tides then grabbed the lead by scoring runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth. Norfolk's sixth was highlighted by Knott's RBI double to left center. RF Adam Stern (1-for-3, 1 R) then opened the seventh with a triple to center and scored on a sacrifice fly, while 1B Mike Cervenak (2-for-4, 2 R, 1 RBI) smacked his 10th homer of the season -- a solo blast to left -- in the eighth.

The Indians made it a one-run contest in the eighth when Ryan collected his third RBI of the night and scored 3B Don Kelly (0-for-2, 1 R) on a single to center.

Tides RHP Andy Mitchell (6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO) earned the win, improving to 6-3.

Indians RHP Jesse Chavez (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 SO) suffered his fifth blown save of 2007 and was tagged with the loss, falling to 3-2.

Indianapolis SS Brian Bixler saw his 12-game hitting streak come to an end by going 0-for-4 on the night.

Manager Trent Jewett will go for the 900th win of his managerial career on Sunday afternoon when Indianapolis and Norfolk wrap up the four-game series at 2 p.m. RHP Kip Bouknight is scheduled to start for the Indians, while RHP Tim Kester is expected to get the nod for the Tides.

The contest will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 1:40 p.m.

It will be another Souvenir Sunday at Victory Field as the first 4,000 fans receive an Indians Beach Towel.
