Dunedin Picks up Doubleheader Split to Salvage Series with Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, FL. - A late night turned into a doubleheader split between Fort Myers and Dunedin to wrap up a three game series.

GAME ONE

In game one, Dunedin's offense managed just two hits overall as RHP Cole Sands (5-2) tossed six innings while striking out seven.

C.J. Cron made the rehab start as the Designated Hitter for the Miracle and smacked a two-run homer that kick-started a rally in the bottom of the third. Later in the inning, Jose Miranda came across to score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 Fort Myers.

Jacob Pearson drove in Miranda in the bottom of the fifth with a single to left to push the Miracle lead to 3-0. RHP Joe Record sat the Blue Jays down in the order in the seventh to record the save and Fort Myers victory.

RHP Josh Winckowski (2-4) lasted just 3.2 innings for Dunedin, walking a season high six hitters and suffering his fourth consecutive loss.

GAME TWO

RHP Graham Spraker (7-4) notched his seventh win of the year for the Blue Jays with seven scoreless innings as Dunedin salvaged the doubleheader and series with a 6-2 victory.

In the top of the third, Dunedin strung together five straight hits and plated six runs. Kacy Clemens smacked a double to center and came around to score two batters later on Jesus Navarro's RBI single. After a Kevin Vicuna single, Chavez Young singled back up the middle to score Navarro and Vicuna to make it 3-0 Dunedin. Later in the frame, Cullen Large drove in run with a single, and Christopher Bec plated two with a double to push the Dunedin lead to 6-0.

Gabriel Maciel and Yeltsin Encarnacion drove in the lone runs for Fort Myers in the third and fifth innings, that was all the offense for the Miracle could muster against Spraker who tossed the complete game, seven innings for his first win since July 2nd.

The D-Jays return home for a three game series against the Bradenton Marauders. The first pitch for game one tomorrow is set for 6:30 at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium.
