DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Lanes played host to the second annual Dunedin Blue Jays Charity Bowling Tournament, sponsored by Achieva, on Saturday, July 11th. All 24 lanes were sponsored and D-Jays players, coaches, and staff teamed up to provide a day of fun and unpredictability to the registered bowlers of the tournament with all proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay.

The lanes were packed with 115 paid bowlers, all of whom received a 2015 Dunedin Blue Jays Bowling Tournament shirt, shoe rental, drink ticket, ticket to that night's Dunedin Blue Jays game, and two games of bowling. Additionally, to help fuel the bowlers' energy during the tournament, Tijuana Flats donated lunch.

Bowling was just a portion of the overall event. There were many opportunities to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay, such as the 50/50 raffle. Battery mates on the field, D-Jays' catcher Jorge Saez and pitcher Matt Smoral, teamed up at the alleys to sell raffle tickets along with others such as Toronto Blue Jays' third-ranked prospect, Jeff Hoffman.

The players' involvement in the tournament began on July 1st, when a group of D-Jays players visited Art from the Heart Café in Dunedin to paint pottery to auction off at the bowling tournament. The players took center stage to sell their creations on the day of the charity bowling event.

Throughout the entirety of the tournament, attendees could bid on items up for auction including a Jose Reyes signed jersey, an Aaron Sanchez signed picture and a Dunedin Blue Jays team-signed bowling ball bearing the D-Jays logo. At a nearby table, the D-Jays raffled off some great prizes such as stays at Beso Del Sol, the Hyatt Suite and Breakfast in Clearwater, and much more.

In the spirit of competition, winners were chosen from each game of bowling, two (2) games, for the best score from Jr. Jays, Silver Jays, and season-ticket holders. The victors received a player-autographed bowling pin. Plus, the team with the best-average score from game one and two was honored.

The bowling tournament led into the first Fishing Night in Dunedin Blue Jays history. Proceeds from raffle tickets sold at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium for various items of fishing gear and 50/50 raffle tickets also benefited the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay. At the end of the day, the bowling tournament and D-Jays' game raised an overall total $6,579.37 for the Ronald McDonald House.
