Duluth Huskies Clinch Playoff Spot Despite Loss to Bismarck

August 11, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Duluth Huskies News Release

The Duluth Huskies fought hard but came up short on Saturday and fell to the Bismarck Larks by a score of 7-1.

Duluth got off to a slow start coming off last night's win in Waterloo and fell behind the hosting Larks, allowing a run in the first inning, and trailed by six after six innings.

The Huskies started to rally with two outs in the seventh, however, with Antonio Monroy (Georgetown College) doubling in a run in the form of Augie Isaacson (Friends University) with two outs. However, the Huskies couldn't muster any more on offense.

Duluth's bullpen was solid for another night. Parker Hanson (Minnesota Crookston) got the start and made it through two innings. Andrew Stout came out of the bullpen and pitched a scoreless seventh. Finally, it was Monroy who pitched for the third time this season, firing a scoreless eighth.

Braydon Hanson (Saint Scholastica) made his Northwoods League debut in an exciting moment for the Huskies and pitched in relief for 1.2 innings.

With the loss, Duluth moves to 46-24 on the season and 22-13 in the second half. The regular season concludes tomorrow afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch in Bismarck.

The Duluth Huskies are playoff bound this season and will play an elimination game on Monday.
