Big Inning Pushes Mallards over Spiders

MADISON, WI - A six run inning from the Madison Mallards (48-23) in the bottom of the 8th would prove to be the difference in an 11-7 win over the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (39-30).

Dock Spiders down 1-0 after one two out hitting would be key for Fondy in the 2nd. Jordan Prendiz (UCLA)sent home the Spiders first run of the ball game on a base hit into center field. Alex Erro (Northwestern)would replicate Prendiz two out single with one of his own giving the Spiders a 2-1 lead which way stay through the 2nd.

It would be four straight innings for Fondy where they would grab two runs a piece.

Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina)would send one over the left field wall for a two run home run, his first since the first game of the regular season.

Madison tied the ball game up at 4-4 with three runs in the bottom of the 4th.

The two runs from Fond du Lac in the 4th would give them a 6-4 lead in which the first was scored on a balk and the second when a runner reached on a fielder's choice sending home a run from third base.

Alex Erro (Northwestern)who extended his hit streak to five games in the first would pick up his second RBI on the night in the 5th inning increasing the lead to 7-4. Erro finished the ball game going 3 for 4, run, two RBI, and a walk.

Madison would score the next seven unanswered runs, six of which came in the 8th in which the Spiders allowed three hits, two walks, hit by a pitch, and two wild pitches.

Fond du Lac will close out the regular season vs. Madison tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 from Herr- Baker Field.
