Dock Spiders Split with Rivets

Fond du Lac Dock Spiders News Release
Game #1
Due to Friday nights game being suspended due to rain in the top of the 2nd the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders and the Rockford Rivets would pick up play at 5 PM on Saturday. The Spiders would fall a score of 3-1 to the Rivets to open up the series.
After three scoreless frames Fondy would get on the board first with an RBI single from Jack Wassel (Minnesota) after base hits from Alex Erro (Northwestern) and Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss). Fondy would surrender one in the 4th making score 1-1.
Rivets were able to score a run in the 6th off of an RBI double after a walk. Eight batters were up for Rockford in the 8th in which only one hit was registered but a run would score on a sacrifice fly making the score 3-1.
Despite giving up three hits to the Spiders seven in the ball game, the Rivets were able to come out on top.
Game #2
Just thirty minutes after the conclusion of the first game it would be a different story this time around.
Nate Madej (Florida Southwestern) got his first start on the season and made it four full innings allowing just three hits, one run, and struck out seven. A big first inning for Fond du Lac would prove to be the difference.
In the first frame the Dock Spiders were able to get batters 2-7 all on base. Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss), Jack Wassel (Minnesota), and Braden Stutzman (Oregon), would all get RBI singles in which the Spiders took a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Jordan Prendiz (UCLA) led the 4th off with a base hit and then he would end uop scoring when a Spider reached on a fielders choice.
In the 7 inning game Rockford would grab both of their runs in the 5th off of three walks and a wild pitch. Fondy was able to hold on and split the series with Rockford earning a 5-2 victory.
Up Next
Dock Spiders will close out the regular season with a home and home with the Madison Mallards. Fond du Lac and Kalamazoo are both 7 games back of Madison in the overall standings but the Dock Spiders have a higher winning percentage (.574) compared to Kalamazoo's (.571).
