Wisconsin Rapids, WI. - The host Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (33-37, 18-17) used a late rally in the eighth inning to sneak past the visiting Green Bay Bullfrogs (28-43, 16-19) by a final score of 4-1 at Witter Field Saturday evening.

Both teams exchanged runs in the second inning with the Bullfrogs striking first to take a 1-0 lead as Blake Nelson (Junior, Michigan) scored on a wild pitch. The Rafters quickly tied the game at 1-1 in the following frame on a RBI single from Payton Robertson.

The contest remained tied at 1-1 before Wisconsin Rapids broke through with a three-spot in the eighth inning to take a 4-1 lead. The rally began with Dustin Woodcock being hit by a pitch to bring the go-ahead run home. Brody Wofford followed with a two-run single to stretch the advantage to a three-run margin.

Nelson led the Green Bay offense, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored. Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) was 1-for-4 with a double, while Alejandro Gonzalez (Freshman, Waldorf Univ.) went 1-for-3 at the dish.

Wisconsin Rapids relief pitcher Jonathan Hernandez earned the win, improving to 3-1. Green Bay reliever Ben Keizer (Sophomore, Michigan) took the loss, dropping to 1-2. Bullfrogs starter Ryan Gowens (Senior, Arizona) posted a terrific start on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits with a season-high 11 strikeouts for the first double-digit strikeout game by any Bullfrogs pitcher this season.

The Green Bay Bullfrogs return home to Joannes Stadium tomorrow afternoon for the final game of the 2018 season, hosting Wisconsin Rapids. First pitch is slated for a 3:05 p.m. start.
