Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento River Cats (29-32) dropped the series finale with the Oklahoma City Dodgers (35-21) 10-6 despite home runs from Myles Schroder and Chris Shaw and an all-around performance from outfield prospect Steven Duggar.

River Cats starter Taylor Hill got through the top of the first inning with just eight pitches, but allowed two runs in each of the next four and exited after 4.2 innings. The Dodgers had opportunities for more, but Duggar made two outstanding plays in center field to rob the Dodgers of extra bases in both the fifth and sixth innings.

The River Cats piled up 13 hits on Thursday but missed several scoring opportunities, finishing just 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position. Schroder and Shaw crushed late inning home runs, while Duggar finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and three RBI to go along with his stellar defensive display.

The River Cats welcome the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to Raley Field for the first time beginning tomorrow night. Righty Casey Kelly (5-5, 5.54) takes the mound for game one of a four-game series, facing off with right-hander Aaron Wilkerson (0-1, 3.86). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT).
