Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

TACOMA, Wa. - The Kansas City Royals announced a series of transactions that affects their Triple-A affiliate Omaha Storm Chasers roster prior to Monday evening's contest against the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.

Left-handed relievers Brian Duensing and David Huff have been released from their contracts.

Duensing posted a 1-0 record and 3.10 ERA (7 ER/20.1 IP) over 12 appearances with two saves, along with 19 strikeouts. Opponents also hit combined for just a .213 batting average against Duensing, while the left-hander owned a 1.03 WHIP. The Omaha native was signed by the Royals as a minor league free agent on February 18, 2016.

Huff accumulated a 1-1 mark and 4.18 ERA (11 ER/23.2 IP) over his 12 appearances, adding 29 strikeouts to just two walks. Huff's 0.76 walks per nine innings ratio ranked him fourth among Pacific Coast League relievers entering play on Saturday. The southpaw was signed by the Royals as a minor league free agent on January 19, 2016.

In a corresponding move, right-hander Christian Binford has been transferred to Omaha from Double-A Northwest Arkansas. In six starts for the Naturals this year, the 23-year-old has accrued a 3-2 record and 4.84 ERA (19 ER/35.1 IP), adding 29 strikeouts. Binford has made ten career appearances with the Storm Chasers between the 2014-15 seasons, combining for a 1-5 mark and 5.73 ERA (24 ER/37.2 IP), and was selected by the Royals in the 30th round of the 2011 MLB Draft.

The Storm Chasers' roster now stands at 24 active players, in addition to four on the disabled list, and a revised roster has been attached.

The Storm Chasers continue their four-game series in Tacoma against the Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. First pitch for this evening is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT, with Binford expected to get the start for Omaha. Tacoma, meanwhile, is slated to send LHP James Paxton (4-2, 2.81) to the hill.
