Zephyrs Allow Four Home Runs in Loss

El Paso - Alex Dickerson is back from the big leagues and has done some serious damage to the New Orleans Zephyrs. The El Paso outfielder drilled a pair of home runs and had four hits in four at bats, scoring three times and three runs batted in as the Chihuahuas beat the Zephyrs 7-6.

The Zephyrs had a big offensive night scoring six runs on 12 hits but it was not enough. New Orleans scored runs in each of the first four innings. Chris Narveson the starting pitcher added two hits and drove home a pair of runs. Xavier Scruggs scored three runs and Tomas Telis added three hits.

El Paso also had a dozen hits but four of those hits were home runs. Dickerson drilled a pair, Hunter Renfroe added a home run and Diego Goris also went deep. The four home runs allowed by the Zephyrs were a season high.

Jeremy Guthrie earned the win pitching five innings. Narveson took the loss. Eric Yardley pitched a perfect ninth inning. The previous two games, both teams suffered ninth inning blown saves.

The Zephyrs (15-22) have dropped six consecutive games.

GAME NOTES

The Zephyrs added pitcher Nick Wittgren from the Miami Marlins.

The Zephyrs fall to 7-7 in games decided by one run.

The Zephyrs are 0-12 when allowing six or more runs in a game.

ON DECK

The Zephyrs continue the eight-game road-trip on Tuesday at 12:05pm in El Paso. The Zephyrs will start Chris Reed (0-0, 1.80) against Daniel McCutcheon (4-2, 5.90). The game will be broadcast on WODT Fox Sports 1280 AM and streamed at iHeart Radio App.

The Zephyrs next home game will be Monday, May 23rd against Reno Aces. The Z's will be home for an eight game series.
