Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Daniel Vogelbach has been named the Player of the Week for May 9-15.

Last week, Vogelbach hit .333 (8-for-24) with three homers, two doubles and eight RBI. He added seven walks - with just five strikeouts - to collect a .484 on-base percentage. His

.792 slugging percentage and 1.276 OPS paced the PCL over this span. On May 9, Vogelbach recorded the fourth multi-home run game of his career, blasting a three-run homer in the first inning and a solo shot in the fourth against Omaha.

Vogelbach leads Chicago's minor league system with six home runs and 29 RBI. His RBI total is good enough for third-most in the PCL. He ranks second on the current I-Cubs' roster in runs (22), hits (38), total bases (63) and walks (19).

The 23-year-old was drafted by the Cubs in the second round of the 2011 draft out of Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers, Fla. and is in his first Triple-A season.

Vogelbach is the 32nd Iowa Cub to win Player of the Week since Iowa joined the league in 1998 and is the 55th I-Cub to collect a PCL weekly honor. The last I-Cub to garner Player of the Week recognition was Christian Villanueva for the week of July 13-19, 2015. However, the last I-Cub to win a PCL weekly honor was Eric Jokisch, who was recognized as the Pitcher of the Week for Aug. 24-30, 2015.
