Samir Duenez had four hits in the game, including two home runs, and the Lexington Legends rallied with three runs in the eighth inning to get a 6-5 win over the Columbia Fireflies Thursday night in Columbia.

After Columbia scored a run in the bottom of the first, the Legends tied the game in the second on a homer by Chase Vallot, his fifth of the season.

The Fireflies came back with a run in the bottom of the second on a double by J.C. Rodriguez, a wild pitch and a single by Tyler Moore. They extended their lead to 4-1 in the third on a two-run triple by Joe Tuschak.

The Legends got a run back in the fourth on a single by Duenez and a double by Ben Johnson. In the top of the sixth, Duenez' first homer cut the lead to one at 4-3, but Columbia's David Thompson hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, and the Fireflies led 5-3.

Duenez led off the eighth inning with another longball, his second of the game and third of the season, and the Legends trailed by one. After Vallot drew a walk, pitcher Seth Davis committed a throwing error after fielding a ball hit by Amalani Fukofuka, leaving runners at first and third. Ben Johnson's single scored Vallot with the tying run. Xavier Fernandez bunted into a double play, but Cody Jones' double brought Johnson home with the deciding run.

Kyle Kubat (1-1) got the win in relief. He took over for Scott Blewett at the start of the sixth inning and finished the game. Kubat allowed one hit, the home run by Thompson. He struck out four batters and walked none.

Davis (1-1) took the loss for Columbia.

The Fireflies won two out of three in the series. The Legends will open a four-game series in Hickory Friday night. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
