
Ducks Take Rain Shortened Game

Bridgewater, NJ- The Long Island Ducks defeated the Somerset Patriots 5-4 at TD Bank Ballpark in a rain shortened game that was called in the seventh on Wednesday evening.
The Patriots took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first after Elliott Ayala reached on a dropped third strike and scored on an RBI double by Jeff Nettles.
The Ducks rallied to take the lead in the top of the third inning on a two-run homerun by Ray Navarrete (17).
Long Island added to their lead the following inning after Eric Monzon plated a base runner on an infield single and Dan Lyons followed with an RBI single to make the score 4-1.
Somerset cut the lead to two after Yusuf Carter doubled and came around to score on an RBI single by Ayala.
The Ducks scored in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Kennard Jones for the 5-2 advantage.
Somerset answered right back in the bottom half of the frame after Jeff Nettles (14) drove a two-run homerun over the left field wall to get within one run.
Long Island starter Joselo Diaz (5-5) got the win after allowing two runs in five innings pitched. Somerset starter Derrick Gordon (7-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on five hits in six innings pitched. Bubbie Buzachero picked up his 13th save of the season.
