(Central Islip, N.Y., June 1, 2011) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Road Warriors 8-4 on Wednesday night at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Road Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead to with three runs in the second and one in the third against Ducks' starter Heath Phillips. A sacrifice fly by Jonel Pacheco and a RBI double by Victor Gutierrez highlighted the scoring.

Long Island stormed back to tie the game with four runs of their own in the bottom of the third against Road Warriors' starter Miguel Martinez. Freddie Thon launched a two-run homer to right and John Rodriguez lined a two-run single to center to tie the game at four. Four more runs in the eighth for the Ducks, highlighted by J.R. House's two-run single up the middle put the game away.

Neither starter factored in the decision. Phillips fired six innings, allowing four runs (none earned) with eight strikeouts while Martinez yielded four earned runs on eight hits in six innings. Ehren Wassermann (2-0) collected the win, pitching two perfect innings of relief. Christopher Kelly (0-2) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning.

Thon led the Ducks offensively with three hits while Rodriguez, House, Kraig Binick, and Dan Lyons each had two.

The Ducks and Road Warriors conclude their three-game series on Thursday evening. Game time is set for 6:35 PM, with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. Mike Loree gets the start for Long Island against former-Duck Kevin Mannix.

Duck Tales: With two hits, Kraig Binick extended his on-base streak to 20 games. It is the longest on-base streak in the Atlantic League this season...John Rodriguez' third inning two-run single extended his on-base streak at Bethpage Ballpark to 16 consecutive games, the longest home on-base streak in the Atlantic League this season. Rodriguez has now reached base safely in every Ducks' home game in 2011...Ray Navarrete also extended his on-base streak at home to 14 games when he was hit by a pitch in the seventh. Navarrete entered the game hitting .350 in his last five games...The Ducks came back from four runs down to pick up the win, matching their largest come-from-behind win of the year. Long Island also came back from four runs down on Saturday, May 28th against Lancaster to win. Tonight was the Ducks' eighth come-from-behind win in 2010.
