Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 10, 2004) â Fueled by a six-run second inning, the Long Island Ducks flew past the Atlantic City Surf by a score of 12-8 on Friday night in front of 6,131 fans at Citibank Park.
In the fateful second, the Ducks scored their six runs on four singles, a walk and a Kimera Bartee three-run homer to left. The home run tied Bartee for second in the Atlantic League with 26 home runs, one behind league leader Michael Coleman of Newark. Long Island added four more runs in the sixth inning off Atlantic City reliever Lance Odom as Kevin Baez, Justin Davies and Rusty McNamara all drove in runs. The Ducks scored their final runs of the evening in the seventh, as Cole Liniak and Wendell Magee drove in one run apiece.
Long Island starter Justin Lamber earned his fifth win of the season after tossing six scoreless innings and allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out three. Following Lamber's exit, Atlantic City plated eight runs off Ducks relievers, but the deficit proved insurmountable.
The Ducks and Surf meet again on Saturday evening for game two of the three-game set at Citibank Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. in a contest that will be broadcast live on WLIE Radio (540-AM) with Chris King and David Weiss describing all the action from Central Islip. The first 1,500 fans will receive camouflage Ducks caps courtesy of the U.S. Army. Tickets for this and all Ducks home games remain available by calling 1-888-332-5600, by logging on to www.liducks.com and clicking on the tickets icon, or by visiting the Citibank Park box office.
