
Drive Withstands Herd Momentum

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Grand Rapids Drive (9-12) notched their second consecutive road win in a 118-107 victory over the Wisconsin Herd (3-17) at Menominee Nation Arena on Saturday night.
It was a battle of momentum shifts as the Drive dominated the first and third quarters while the Herd owned the second. Grand Rapids led by 20 points with 8:51 remaining in the second quarter, but Wisconsin closed the half on a 32-to-9 run to take a three-point lead heading into halftime. The Drive came out hot in the second half and outscored the Herd 70-56 to secure the victory.
As a team, Grand Rapids shot 45.8 percent from three-point range, connecting on 22 of their 48 attempts. Drive forward Marcus Thornton scored a team-high 27 points, knocking down five shots from beyond the arc. Shep Garner added seven more shots from deep on his way to a 23-point scoring night off the bench.
Wisconsin's top performer was Milwaukee Bucks' assignee Christian Wood, who earned his eighth double-double of the season, with a game-high 30 points and 14 rebounds. Herd guard James Young also stood out, finishing with 29 points, six rebounds and six assists while converting six of his 11 three-point attempts.
Both teams will take the floor again on Jan. 4 as the Drive heads to Delaware and the Herd makes the trip to Fort Wayne.
