Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive bats were on fire tonight as they took on the Asheville Tourists for the first game in a six game away series. The Drive defeated the Tourists 11-0!

Ceddanne Rafaela was first at bat and immediately got things rolling with a double. The Drive's success would continue at the plate throughout the first inning with Rafaela, Nick Yorke, Nicholas Northcut, and Gilberto Jimenez all scoring.

Greenville starting pitcher Yusniel Padron-Artiles held Asheville to zero runs, and the Drive bullpen would continue this for the whole game.

The Tourists would surprisingly only cycle through three pitchers despite the great success the Drive was having.

After the pitch change for Asheville in the fourth inning, Stephen Scott, Alex Erro, Tyler Esplin, and Rafaela would rotate around the bases finding their way home and added four runs to the Drive's efforts.

In the sixth inning, Alex Binelas would bomb one to center field bringing Matthew Lugo home with him. Binelas wasn't the only one hitting a homerun. Jimenez would get a piece of the action in the seventh inning as well.

Once Asheville's RHP Ray Gaither entered in the sixth inning, the Drive would remain scoreless. But the 11 runs scored earlier in the night, were more than enough to clinch the win.

The Drive will take on the Tourists tomorrow at 6:35 in Asheville.
