Drive Drops to Hickory

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive lost for the second time in the series to the Hickory Crawdads. After a tough loss in the second game, the Drive once again fell short with a score of 9-3.

Hickory had a quick start to the game when Aaron Zavala hit a single resulting in runs from Jayce Easley and Evan Carter at the top of the first inning.

As the Drive continued to go without scoring, Hickory continued to heat up at the top of the third inning when Luisangel Acuna hit a single resulting in a run. Thomas Saggese extended the lead when he hit a homerun with two men on base making the score 6-0.

Pitcher Ryan Zeferjahn from the Drive came in to replace Chih-Jung Liu at the top of the fourth.

The Drive finally made it onto the scoreboard when Matthew Lugo hit a homerun at the bottom of the fourth.

After a scoreless fifth inning, Alex Binelas picked things back up when he hit a homerun to make the score 6-2. Stephen Scott from the Drive hit a triple at the bottom of the seventh and then scored a run after a wild pitch from Hickory pitcher Spencer Mraz.

The Crawdads kept up their lead when they scored one run after a wild pitch from Austin Lambright at the top of the eighth inning. They continued to be successful at the plate when Keyber Rodriguez hit a homerun with Saggese on base.

A final effort was given by Antoni Flores with a homerun in the bottom of the ninth.

The series continues at Fluor Field tomorrow with first pitch at 7:05.
