May 17, 2024 - South Atlantic League (SAL)
Greenville Drive News Release
Mikey Romero chipped in two-RBI while Ronald Rosario and Caden Rose recorded multi-hit games for the Greenville Drive (17-20) as they picked up their second consecutive win over the Winston-Salem Dash (17-20), 6-2. The victory tied the Drive and Dash in the standings putting them each four games out of first in the South Atlantic League South Division first-half standings.
The Drive jumped on the Dash early, scratching across three runs in the second as they went station to station. Rosario led off with a double before Luis Ravelo knocked a two-out single. Caden Rose walked and Karson Simas reached on a fielding error before Romero slapped his first RBI for the 3-0 lead.
Juan Daniel Encarnacion continued his streak of solid performances on the mound, spinning five innings, allowing five hits and two runs with six strikeouts. He'd be credited with the win, his second of the season for the Drive. Greenville is 5-1 when Encarnacion starts on the mound this season.
He held the Dash hitless through two and a third before a Chris Lanzilli single ended his seven-and-a-third-innings hitless streak that began against the Hickory Crawdads back on May 11th.
Mario Camilletti knocked an RBI-single in the third and Bryce Willites homered to right center field to cut the lead to 3-2. The game would remain that way until Bryan Gonzalez slapped a double off the Greenville Monster to score Kristian Campbell to make it 4-2 in the fifth.
Campbell extended his on-base streak, thanks to being hit by a pitch prior to the Gonzlez hit, to 23 games, surpassing last season's team high of 22 set by Marcelo Mayer. Gonzalez boosted his hitting streak to seven games while Campbell's hit streak reached five when he slapped an RBI-single in the eighth.
Reidis Sena locked down the Dash over the course of three innings, allowing a solitary hit and a walk while ringing up three batters.
Romero added his second RBI in the eighth before Campbell added his RBI-single in the ensuing at-bat to boost the Drive lead to 6-2. Caleb Bolden held down the ninth for the Drive picking up two strikeouts and issuing one walk.
The Greenville Drive return to action Saturday, May 18th at 7:05 p.m. for game five of the six-game series with Winston-Salem. The series is split, 2-2.
