Austin FC News Release
Saint Paul, MINNESOTA - With two (2) goals from Sebastián Driussi and one (1) each from Diego Fagundez and Emiliano Rigoni, Austin FC extended its unbeaten streak to four (4) matches by defeating Minnesota United FC 4-1 on Saturday night at Allianz Field. Driussi's pair of goals made him the first Austin FC player to reach 50 goal contributions across all competitions for the Club.
The Verde & Black sustained Minnesota pressure throughout the first half. Brad Stuver made an excellent save in a one-on-one situation in the 30th minute, and Ethan Finlay nearly scored moments later.
Austin took the lead in the 35th minute. Dani Pereira and Fagundez combined brilliantly to create the chance, and Fagundez polished off the move with a composed finish. The visitors then doubled their advantage from the penalty spot before halftime, as Driussi dispatched a spot kick won by Jon Gallagher.
ATXFC began the second half as it ended the first, adding a third goal in the 51st minute. Pereira did well to beat his man in midfield and play Finlay in behind, who in turn picked out Driussi with a pinpoint cross to the back post.
Minnesota got a goal back late through Devin Padelford, but Rigoni put in Austin's fourth goal of the night in stoppage time to seal an emphatic win.
