
Inter Miami CF Signs Israel Boatwright and Lawson Sunderland on Short-Term Agreements from Inter Miami CF II

Inter Miami CF announced today it has signed defender Israel Boatwright and midfielder Lawson Sunderland on short-term agreements from the Club's MLS NEXT Pro side Inter Miami CF II. Boatwright and Sunderland will be available for tonight's MLS match on the road against D.C. United at 7:30 p.m. ET at Audi Field.
This will be the third and fourth time respectively that Boatwright and Sunderland have been signed on short-term agreements by the Club's First Team for Inter Miami 2023 MLS regular season fixtures.
Sunderland, 21, joined Inter Miami CF II ahead of the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season and has gone on to make 33 appearances, 28 of them starts, to date, scoring five goals and registering three assists as well. This season, the midfielder has made 14 appearances, starting 11 times, and registered three goals and an assist.
Boatwright, 18, also made his debut for Inter Miami CF II in 2022 while being on an Academy contract and was signed to a professional contract with the team in May. In all, he has registered 13 MLS NEXT Pro appearances to date, eight during the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season, recording a goal and an assist in the process.
On the international stage, Sunderland has previously been called up by the USYNT U-18 side, while Boatwright has represented the Dominican Republic at both youth and senior levels. The right back most recently featured for the Dominican Republic U-20 national team at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina in what was a historic first participation for the country in a FIFA World Cup tournament.
Per MLS rules, the short-term agreements allow clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
