Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - The right-hander who has been all over baseball has one more spot to look forward to: home.

During Round Rock's 6-2 loss to New Orleans in Monday's season-finale, Driskill worked a scoreless eighth and did not throw an official pitch in what would be his final trip to the mound in the ninth. Driskill, 36, had his retirement announced to a thunderously applauding crowd before being met on the field by his family and teammates.

Driskill, who has spent the last 15 years with 15 different professional baseball teams, was selected to the 2007 Pacific Coast League All-Star team earlier this year. He appeared in 43 games for the Express, carving out a 4-3 record with a 3.78 earned-run average and a team-best 1.18 WHIP (Walks-Plus-Hits-Per-Inning). He fanned 62 on just 16 walks.

Driskill was selected by Cleveland out of Texas Tech in the fourth round of the 1993 draft and made his way to Triple-A before entering the Japanese League in 1998 (Yakult). He posted a career-high 12 wins in 28 starts with Triple-A New Orleans in 2000 and went 8-8 with a 4.95 ERA for the 2002 Baltimore Orioles.

He also appeared in 20 games for the Orioles in 2003, five games for Colorado in 2004 and struck out two batters in one scoreless inning for the 2005 Astros. He also appeared in two games earlier this season, striking out four over six innings of relief.

Driskill is 98-83 with a 3.98 ERA over 484 minor league games. The Omaha, Neb. native is 11-14 with a 5.23 ERA over 57 major league appearances.
