Drillers Blank Naturals, 1-0 to Earn 10th Straight

TULSA, Okla. - Northwest Arkansas (27-31) dropped Wednesday's day game to the Tulsa Drillers (33-24) by a final score of 1-0 at ONEOK Field. The Drillers notched a franchise-best 10th consecutive win behind a 7.0 innings, one-hit performance by starter, Trevor Oaks.

Northwest Arkansas's lone hit off Oaks (7-1, 2.34) came with one out in the third inning. Newly christened 25-year old, Terrance Gore, celebrated his birthday with his first double of the season, shooting a strike-one pitch into right-field. The Naturals had two base-runners the entire game against Oaks and the Drillers' staff with Corey Toups leading off the game with a walk and a stolen base, only to be stranded at third.

Starter, Matt Strahm (2-5, 3.05) worked just 2.0 innings, making four pitches in the third, before being lifted for reliever, Yender Caramo. The right-hander worked 5.0 innings of two-hit baseball and retired 14 consecutive batters before allowing a base-hit to the final man he faced in the eighth.

The Drillers sole run came in the second inning on a run-scoring single through the right-side by catcher, Paul Hoenecke to give the drillers a 1-0 lead off Strahm and the Naturals.

The series continues tomorrow night with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch with right-hander, Jake Junis (5-3, 2.59) look to be the stopper for the Naturals. Countering for the Drillers, right-hander, Tim Shibuya (0-1, 2.49).
