Iowa Chops News Release

Iowa Chops forward Drew Miller is making it known that he has a flair for the dramatic. Miller's power play goal with 4:03 remaining in the 3rd period gave the Iowa Chops a 4-3 win over the visiting Lake Erie Monsters, moving the Chops record to 4-2-0-0 through their first six games.

The Chops scored for the second straight game thanks to Bobby Ryan's (pictured) third goal of the year as he collected a loose puck from linemates Josh Green and Joakim Lindstrom and buried a shot past an outstretched Monsters goaltender, Jason Bacashihua. The Monsters tied the score at 1-1, as Tom Fritsche found the back of the net past Chops goaltender David LeNeveu.

After several big saves by LeNeveu, the Monsters broke through for their first lead of the night as Brian Willsie, hammered home a puck that appeared to be lodged underneath LeNeveu's pads. The Chops wasted no time evening things up as Eric Boguniecki was the benefactor of some great forechecking by Petteri Wirtanen, who created space for Miller to find Boguniecki alone in the slot.

The Chops made it 3-2 in the middle of the 3rd as Andrew Ebbett scored his team-leading 4th goal of the season with help from Miller and T.J. Trevelyan. The Monsters came right back to tie the score at 3-3 just a minute later as Per Ledin fired a shot through the legs of LeNeveu.

Miller's game-winner came on the power play on a beautiful give-and-go with Ebbett, who was behind the net. Brett Festerling picked up the second assist.

The Chops outshot the Monsters 26-25 and went 2 for 8 on the power play.
