Fort Wayne, Ind.-Wes Cunningham belted a home run and added a run-scoring double as the Fort Wayne TinCaps defeated the Dayton Dragons 8-2 on Thursday night. The Dragons' loss snapped their six-game winning streak as they were handed their first defeat in the month of July. The Dragons fell to 10-4 in the second half and their lead was trimmed to two games in the East Division of the Midwest League.

Dayton scored a single run in the first inning when Billy Hamilton singled, stole second, went to third on Ronald Torreyes' ground out, and scored on Dominic D'Anna's single to make it 1-0. But it was all Fort Wayne after that. The TinCaps scored four in the second, two more in the third, and one in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead on the way to evening the series at one win apiece.

Dragons starting pitcher Daniel Corcino (8-4) suffered through a rough outing. He lasted just three innings, allowing six hits and six earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. He also hit two batters. Corcino had allowed a total of six runs in his previous five starts combined covering 31.1 innings.

The Dragons collected 11 hits. D'Anna and David Vidal each had three hits and an RBI. Vidal had two doubles.

The Dragons (10-4, 45-39) will play at Fort Wayne against the TinCaps (5-9, 35-48) on Friday at 7:05 p.m. in the last game of a three-game series and the wrap-up to a six-game road trip. Stalin Gerson (2-0, 1.02) will start for Dayton.

The next home game at Fifth Third Field is Saturday, July 9 when the Dragons host South Bend at 7:00 p.m. On that night, the Dragons will have the opportunity to break the all-time record for consecutive sell-outs. The Dragons tied the record held by the Portland Trail Blazers on July 2 when they enjoyed their 814th straight sell-out.
