Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The River Bandits were able to hang on for a 7-6 win over the Burlington Bees to even the series at a one. Michael Swinson set the pace for the Bandits at the top of the order by finishing a single short of the cycle.
The River Bandits put up runs in five of the first six innings to claim a 7-2 lead through six frames. Seth Blair (5-3) kept the Bandits in the game by working 5 2/3 innings while allowing just two runs on only three hits. He walked five and fanned seven on his way to the win.
Offensively, Swinson went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI. Oscar Taveras and Nick Longmire each chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBI.
Blake Hassebrock (4-5) took the loss after allowing four earned runs, five total, on eight hits.
The Bees made things interesting in the ninth scoring three times to pull within a run. All the ninth-inning damage was done against Hector Corpus before Angel De Jesus (2) came in to induce a fielder's choice to close out the game and earn the save.
The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Community Field in Burlington, Iowa.
