Dayton Dragons News Release

Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Hot Rods (affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) in the last game of a three-game set. This is game nine of the Dragons nine-game home stand.

Season Series: Dayton 8, Bowling Green 8 (At Dayton: Bowling Green 7, Dayton 3).

Streaks: Dayton: Lost 8 (Lost 15 of last 16). Bowling Green: Won 2.

Last Game: Bowling Green defeated Dayton 6-3 to earn their second straight win in the series. Cody Rogers hit a two-run home run that lifted the Hot Rods to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning. Dayton's Henry Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth as the Dragons pulled to within a run at 4-3, but the Dragons could get no closer. Dayton did not advance a runner past first base after the fourth inning and Bowling Green's Bennett Davis added a solo homer in the sixth as the Hot Rods went on to hand the Dragons their eighth straight loss.

Today's Starting Pitcher: Blair Carson makes his third start of the season for the Dragons tonight. Carson has spent most of the year in the Dayton bullpen but makes his second straight start after replacing the injured J.C. Sulbaran in the starting rotation. In his last start on Thursday, July 24 vs. Cedar Rapids, Carson suffered the loss (4 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO). Carson played at Anderson University, an NCAA Division II school, where he set the school record for career home runs and six other hitting categories, prompting his head coach to call him "the best offensive player ever to play at Anderson." In 2009, hit .346 with 12 HR and 57 RBI as a senior first baseman at Anderson and made 11 starts on the mound, going 4-2 with a 4.63 ERA. He was drafted as a pitcher in 2009 and split his first pro season between GCL Reds and Billings, going 2-7, 4.50 in 68 innings.
