Dayton, Ohio - Dayton reliever Wendolyn Bautista pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth inning as the Dragons held on to defeat the Lansing Lugnuts 4-3 on Saturday. A crowd of 7,970 was in attendance at Fifth Third Field. The start of the game was delayed by rain for 39 minutes.

Bautista entered the game with the Dragons leading by one run, three men on base, and one out in the ninth inning. He struck out Reggie Pruitt for the second out and then got Samad Taylor to line out to center field to end the game.

The Dragons broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the seventh inning. Raul Wallace and Jeter Downs each delivered run-scoring singles in the inning as the Dragons took advantage of two Lansing errors to take a 4-1 lead. The Lugnuts scored one run in the eighth and added another in the ninth to close out the scoring.

Lansing got the scoring started in the fourth inning on an inside-the-park home run by Mark Grudzielanek. Dragons center fielder Lorenzo Cedrola crashed into the wall while attempting a leaping catch of the ball and had to leave the game with an injury. He appeared to be suffering pain in the ribs or lower back as he left the field.

The Dragons tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on a run-scoring single by single by Andy Sugilio.

Dayton starting pitcher Patrick McGuff pitched well. He worked six innings, allowing one run on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Dauri Moreta (3-1) was credited with the win, working two innings in relief of McGuff. Moreta allowed one unearned run on one hit with one strikeout. Bautista retired the only two batters he faced for his second save.

The Dragons collected seven hits by seven different players. They were a solid 3 for 8 with men in scoring position. All seven hits were singles. Jose Garcia had a hit to extend his hitting streak to 11 straight games, tied for the second longest of the year for a Dayton player.
