Anderson (2-2) was brilliant, allowing two hits - one of which was a bunt single - and two walks in seven frames. The southpaw, who pitched for Ottawa last season, struck out five and lowered his ERA to 3.52 in five starts since being promoted from Double-A Bowie.

Doyne struck out two in a perfect ninth inning, picking up his 27th save in 28 chances this year. The save moved him past Derek Wallace and into first place on the Tides franchise list. Wallace registered 26 saves in 1996.

Norfolk took an early lead off of Lynx starter Landon Jacobsen (1-2), as Terry Tiffee drove home Mike Cervenak with a first inning double. The Tides added another run in the second frame on an RBI single by Cesar Crespo, and extended their lead to 3-0 in the 5th on a double by Cervenak.

Cervenak and Tike Redman each finished with two hits in the contest, helping Norfolk to its fourth win in the past five games.

The Tides and Lynx continue their four-game series with a 1:05 contest Saturday afternoon. Tim Kester (6-8, 6.04) takes the hill for Norfolk against Ottawa's J.A. Ha
