
Doug Johnson named Pitcher of the Week

Sioux Falls, SD - Sportsticker, the official statistician of the American Association, has named Canaries Right-Handed Starter Doug Johnson the Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 18.
Last week, Doug Johnson followed up a 6.2 inning, three-hit, shutout performance against the St. Paul Saints by throwing seven innings of three-hit shutout baseball against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Johnson struck out three and walked one in the Canaries 12-1 victory over Lincoln.
In his last five starts, Johnson is 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA. In those five games, Johnson has struck out 20 in 31 innings.
Outfielder Jorge Alverez of the El Paso Diablos was named this week's Batter of the Week. Two weeks ago, Canaries First Baseman/Outfielder Abner Arroyo earned the honor.
