
Doubrant Dazzles in 1-0 PawSox Victory

For a second straight start at McCoy Stadium, 22-year old Felix Doubront (1-0) was the story for the Pawtucket Red Sox.
On the shoulders of Doubront who was making his third AAA start, the PawSox beat the Charlotte Knights 1-0 Wednesday evening in a game that took just 2:29 to complete. The left-hander threw 5.2 scoreless innings en route to a victory for the PawSox that was the team's fifth in their past seven games. In his outing, Doubrant struck out three and allowed four base runners, retiring 13 consecutive Knights at one point. In three starts since being called up from Portland, Doubrant has pitched 11.2 innings, struck out 11 batters and has posted a 0.77 ERA.
The lone run of the ballgame was scored by center fielder Ryan Kalish who was playing in just his second game in Pawtucket. Kalish doubled to the warning track in right centerfield with one out in fifth inning and the next batter was Jorge Jiminez who drove him home with a single to left field.
Robert Manuel pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his seventh save of the season.
For the PawSox, the 1-0 victory was the third such victory for the team in 2010- the most recent occurrence coming May 23.
The starter for the Knights was Matt Zaleski (4-3) who earned the loss. He surrendered five hits, struck out six PawSox and gave up one earned run in his six innings of work.
The series concludes Thursday at 7:05 p.m. with Adam Mills (1-3, 3.86 ERA) for the PawSox taking on Dan Hudson (5-2, 4.56 ERA) of the Knights in final game of a four-game series at McCoy Stadium.
