Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

We know what you're thinking. Donovan Mitchell Jr? The Basketball player? The guy who won the Slam Dunk Contest? The NBA All-Star? What does he have to do with the Brooklyn Cyclones?

Well - we're glad you asked. Because long before he had a sneaker contract with Adidas. Long before he was dunking on everyone in his path. Way back in the early 2000s Donovan - or Little D, as he was known to folks throughout the ballpark - was a regular at what was then KeySpan Park. His father served as the hitting coach with the club in 2002, 2004 and 2005. Donovan, Jr. would shag fly balls, take BP, and even worked as the bat boy from time to time. While it seems he made the correct decision in choosing the hardwood over the diamond, the first 2,000 fans in attendance at our Saturday, July 16th game will receive a bobblehead of Donovan Jr in a Cyclones uniform with a bat on his shoulder while standing on a basketball. It will be a part of What Could Have Been Night - as we celebrate some of the great "What ifs?" throughout history.
