Claws Fall in 11 on Sunday to Finish Series

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Hudson Valley scored four times in the 11th inning and held off the BlueClaws 9-6 to sweep the six game series at ShoreTown Ballpark. Cristian Perez, who had three hits, singled home the go-ahead run before the Renegades added three more. The BlueClaws brought the tying run to the plate in the 11th after an RBI single from Rixon Wingrove but DJ Stewart struck out and Baron Radcliff grounded into a double-play to end the game.

The BlueClaws (2-12/27-53) dropped their seventh straight game, and 17th of their last 20. Hudson Valley (10-5-44-37) has won seven straight and they swept the six game series from Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore fell to 0-4 in extra innings this season.

The BlueClaws took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Rixon Wingrove off starter Josue Panacual. Trailing 3-1, the BlueClaws rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. Baron Radcliff's RBI double made it 3-2. Then Karl Ellison tripled home two runs to give the BlueClaws the lead.

Jersey Shore starter Ben Brown came out after five innings, allowing three runs/one earned with eight strikeouts but didn't factor in the decision.

Hudson Valley got another unearned run in the seventh inning to tie the game. A Baron Radcliff throwing error on a single by Eduardo Torrealba moved him to second and he scored on a two out single by Cooper Bowman to tie the game.

De La Cruz, Wingrove, and Radcliff all had two hits for Jersey Shore. Sweeney and Perez had three hits while Bowman had two for the BlueClaws in the loss.

With the crowd of 3,765, the BlueClaws are within 650 fans of 8-million, a mark that will fall at their next home game on Friday, July 22nd.

The BlueClaws go to Aberdeen for a six game series that begins on Tuesday night.
