Donald and Cardenas Homer in Lakewood Win

EASTLAKE, OH-Jason Donald and Adrian Cardenas each hit solo home runs as the BlueClaws picked up a 6-4 win over Lake County on Monday night.

Donald, who also walked 3 times, hit his home run in the 3rd inning to give the BlueClaws (18-17) a 2-0 lead, and Cardenas added his 5th of the year in the 5th to make it 3-1. The next batter, Kevin Howard, tripled, and scored on a SAC fly by Gus Milner as part of a 2-run inning.

Lake County scored 2 runs in the 9th off of Ronald Hill on a double by Roman Pena, who has driven in 5 over the last 2 games,

Jarrod Freeman (2-1) allowed just 1 run over 6 innings for his 2nd win of the season. Andrew Cruse allowed 1 run over the next 2 and Ronald Hill pitched the 9th.

Julian Williams was 2-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. His run was the highlight play of the day, when Williams scored from 2nd base on a wild pitch by Captains relief pitcher Cody Bunkelman. The Williams run, which came in the 6th, and Quintin Berry's 1st inning run both came without a hit in the inning.

Lake County (18-18) starter Mike Eisenberg (1-4) walked 4 batters in the 1st inning, though only one scored. He lased 4 allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and 5 walks.

Kevin Howard continued his hot hitting, going 3-4 with a triple, walk, RBI, and run scored. He is now 14-36 (.389) with the BlueClaws after coming from Clearwater.

Jared Goedert hit his league-leading 14th home run of the year for Lake County.

The 4-game series concludes tomorrow at 11:05 a.m, with Kyle Drabek (3-0, 4.25 ERA) on the hill for Lakewood. In his last start, Drabek allowed just 1 run on 2 hits over 7.2 IP in a Thursday win over Greensboro. Carlton Smith (1-2, 6.27) throws for Lake County.
