LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Thirteen games, 14 days. This mega-homestand comes to FirstEnergy Park beginning Monday, May 21st, and features promotions for everybody. All told, there will be four bobble-head giveaway nights, four fireworks nights, a professional wrestler, Ryan Howard statues, and dogs at the ballpark.
"This is one of the biggest and most exciting homestands in our history," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "We've lined up some outstanding and highly popular promotions to make it special for our fans."
Monday, May 21st the BlueClaws open a four-game series with Hagerstown at 6:35. It will be the first bobble-head giveaway of the year, as the first 2,000 fans will receive a Cole Hamels "Made the Phillies" Bobble-head thanks to Smart Carpet and Flooring. Hamels was with Lakewood in 2003, and went 6-1 with a 0.84 ERA. Through Sunday, he was 5-1 with a 3.46 ERA with the Phillies.
It's also a Kids Eat Free Monday thanks to Shop Rite. May 22nd is the first Senior Expo of the season, and Seniors Eat Free, as always on Tuesday, thanks to Commerce Bank. Baseball Bingo will also be played throughout the game which begins at 6:35 p.m.
Before the 11:05 a.m. game on May 23rd, the first 2,000 fans will receive Oversized Baseball Cards thanks to the Asbury Park Press and Harrogate.
May 24th is the BlueClaws first-ever Concert Ticket Extravaganza. 42 tickets to 11 different concerts will be raffled off throughout the 6:35 p.m. game. Concerts include The Police, Meatloaf, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Def Leppard, and more. The grand prize winner will win two tickets to Live Earth at Giants Stadium.
Memorial Day Weekend is a fireworks weekend at FirstEnergy Park as the BlueClaws welcome in the Lake County Captains (Indians) for a three game set. Fireworks will follow the 7:05 games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday thanks to Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood.
Additionally, the first 2,000 fans on Saturday May 26th will receive a Michael Bourn "Made the Phillies" Bobble-head doll thanks to SBLI. Bourn holds the BlueClaws single-season record with 92 runs scored, set in 2004.
Saturday night's game will also feature an appearance from WWF legend King Kong Bundy, marking the 4th straight year a professional wrestler has visited FirstEnergy Park.
After an off-day on Memorial Day, Delmarva (Orioles) comes to town on May 29th for three 6:35 p.m. games. For the first game of the series, the first 2,000 fans will receive BlueClaws mesh trucker caps courtesy of Home Depot. It's also a Seniors Eat Free Tuesday with Baseball Bingo thanks to Commerce Bank.
The next two nights mark opportunities to revisit the greatest player and greatest team in BlueClaws history. May 30th, National League MVP and 2002 BlueClaws first baseman Ryan Howard will have his replica MVP statue given to the first 2,000 fans thanks to Verizon Wireless.
May 31st, come out to honor the first ever South Atlantic League Championship at the Jersey Shore. Manager Dave Huppert has his bobble-head, holding the SAL Trophy, thanks to RE/MAX of New Jersey.
Lake County returns for a three game weekend series to conclude the homestand beginning June 1st at 7:05 p.m. It's the fourth fireworks night of the homestand. As always, the post-game show is presented by Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood.
Saturday June 2nd marks the fourth and final bobble- head giveaway of the homestand with Chris Roberson's "Made the Phillies" bobble-head, courtesy of State Farm Insurance. Roberson holds the BlueClaws single-season record with 59 stolen bases set in 2003.
Finally, the mega-homestand concludes with a 1:05 p.m. game on Sunday June 3rd with the return of the popular "Bark in the Park", presented by Camp Bow Wow of Lacey. Fans can bring their dogs to FirstEnergy Park to take in the ballgame in style. There will also be music from Rockin' Ray and the Skydogs.
According to an annual survey, the BlueClaws continue to have the most affordable ticket for Professional Baseball in New Jersey. Having led the South Atlantic League in attendance each year of operation, this year they will add their 3-millionth fan, becoming the fastest team in league and New Jersey history to do so.
