Dominik Masin Named Captain of Czech National Junior Team

(Prague, CZE) - Peterborough Petes defenceman Dominik Masin (pronounced "mah-sheen") has been named captain of the Czech National Junior Team ahead of the 2016 World Junior Hockey Championship in Helsinki, Finland.

In an announcement made on the Czech Ice Hockey Association's official Twitter account on Monday afternoon, Masin was named captain of the national team. The 2016 World Junior Hockey Championship will be played in Helsinki from Saturday, December 26, 2015 to Tuesday, January 5, 2016.

The Czech Junior Team kicks off their tournament schedule at 7am ET on December 26, 2015 against Russia. The Czechs will face Team Canada in a pre-tournament game, but will not see them in the tournament unless they are matched up in the medal round.

Masin, who was selected in the second round, 35th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, has recorded 3 goals, 10 assists, 13 points, 26 penalty minutes and a +/- rating of +20 in 29 games played with the Petes so far this season. The native of Mestec Kralove, Czech Republic, was the 25th overall pick in the 2014 CHL Import Draft.
