Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves defeated the Guelph Storm 4-2 on Sunday afternoon to snap their losing skid. After two closely contested periods, the Wolves were able to seal the victory in the final period with an empty net goal.

The Wolves opened the scoring early in the 1st period as DMITRY SOKOLOV finished off the play which was started by ALAN LYSZCZARCZYK and MIKKEL AAGAARD. Guelph responded late in the period, as former Wolf, Jacob Harris scored to tie the game at one after the opening twenty minutes.

Just over a minute into the 2nd period, ALAN LYSZCZARCZYK scored to re-gain the Wolves' one goal lead. AAGAARD picked up his second assist of the game on the goal. Once again however, the Storm tied it up around the midway point of the period when Luke Burghardt scored on the powerplay to even the game at two. This is where it stood heading into the second intermission.

In the final period of play, MIKKEL AAGAARD registered his third point of the game, scoring the eventual game winner halfway through the 3rd period. The Wolves sealed the victory for the wolfpack with a late empty net goal from ZACH WILKIE. TROY TIMPANO had another strong performance for the Wolves in net, as he made 37 saves to help lead the team to victory.
