Sudbury Wolves News Release
The Sudbury Wolves fell 5-3 to the Owen Sound Attack Saturday night as they made their only appearance of the season at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Centre. The Wolves fell behind early in the contest, and despite a late 3rd period push, were unable to complete the comeback. This game was significant for two players in particular, as newly acquired 6'9" defenceman JARETT MEYER made his Wolves debut against his former team, while former Wolf Trenton Bourque also got to face his former squad following Friday's trade.
The Attack jumped out to an early two goal lead in the opening period of play. Nick Suzuki and Sean Durzi scored their goals a minute and a half apart mid-way through the period. The Attack got into some penalty trouble, giving the Wolves three powerplay opportunities in the first, but the Wolves were unable to take advantage.
In the second period, Owen Sound increased their lead as Johan Gadjovich scored to give the Attack a 3-0 lead. The Wolves also lost one of their veteran forwards as MATT SCHMALZ was given a game misconduct for checking to the head.
The final period of play was the Wolves best. Owen Sounds scored an early goal but the Wolves responded with two quick markers to get themselves back in the game. ALAN LYSZCZARCZYK opened the scoring with the assist from MIKKEL AAGAARD. Just 28 seconds later, AAGAARD scored with PATRICK MURPHY picking up the helper. Later in the period both teams exchanged powerplay goals as the Attack scored first to re-gain their three goal lead, but once again the Wolves responded as PATRICK MURPHY registered his second point of the game with his team's lone powerplay goal. DANNY DESROCHERS and LYSZCZACZYK added the assists. This would be as close as the Wolves got as they fell by a 5-3 final. TROY TIMPANO made 44 saves in the loss, as he continues to get back into top form following his injury. Captain DANNY DESROCHERS was named the 3rd star in the contest.
