FLORENCE, Ky. - A seven-inning, one-hit outing from Florence Y'alls starting pitcher Edgar Martinez limited the Gateway Grizzlies offense enough to secure a 5-3 victory on Friday night at Y'alls Ballpark.

Left fielder Trevor Craport immediately got Florence ahead with a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, scoring third baseman and reigning Frontier League Player of the Week Chad Sedio.

Those two runs looked to be plenty for the Y'alls until the fifth inning. Grizzlies first baseman Axel Johnson led off the inning with a walk. Two batters later, center fielder Dustin Woodcock tied the ball game up at two with a home run. The long ball was the first and only hit Martinez would give up in the ball game.

In the bottom half of the inning, leadoff man Joe Lytle hit his first career home run to put Florence back on top by two, 4-2. The Y'alls would add another in the sixth for insurance, which was answered back by Gateway in the eighth.

Joe Dougherty came in for the ninth inning, attempting to record his fourth save of the season. With a consistent 94-mph fastball, Dougherty slammed the door.

Florence improves to 18-9 with the win, Gateway falls to 8-19. Martinez remains undefeated on the year (4-0). The series continues Saturday night at 6:36, come on out to Y'alls Ballpark for Prom Night at the stadium.
