Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

SYRACUSE, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs recorded their seventh-straight loss on Wednesday night, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Syracuse Crunch at Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter. With the regulation loss, the ‘Dogs set a franchise record for futility after failing to record a point for the seventh-straight game. Hamilton's franchise-long losing streak is eight games from November 6th-to-21st during the 2004-2005 season.

Defenceman Clay Wilson opened the scoring for the Crunch with his 12th goal of the season at 11:31 of the first period on the power play. Duvie Westcott and Nate DiCasmirro earned assists on the play. Wilson now has two goals and five assists in just four games against the Bulldogs this season.

Syracuse extended its lead at 3:34 of the middle stanza when Trevor Frischmon potted his fourth tally of the campaign. Derek Dorsett and Tom Sestito picked up assists on the 2-0 goal.

At the 6:00 mark of the second period, the Bulldogs cut the Crunch lead in half when Mathieu Biron took a pass from Jonathan Ferland and blasted home a power-play goal to make the score 2-1. Prior to the goal, Hamilton had gone 0-for-32 on the power play and hadn't scored a goal with the man advantage in over six games.

Frischmon lifted Syracuse to a 3-1 lead at 4:25 of the third period with his second marker of the night. Kirill Starkov and Dorsett, who earned his second point of the contest, registered helpers on the game's final scoring play.

Between the pipes, Yann Danis suffered his seventh-straight loss for the Bulldogs after stopping 27 of the 30 shots he faced, while Karl Goehring made 28 saves on 29 shots to earn the win for the Crunch.

Each team was 1-for-3 on the power play.

Blueliner Pavel Valentenko, who missed the last 15 games with a shoulder injury, centreman Daniel Corso, who had missed four-straight contests with a groin injury, and winger Brett Engelhardt, who missed two games due to his wife giving birth, all returned to the Bulldogs line-up in the game. Also, ‘Dogs veteran forward Corey Locke played in his 300th career AHL contest.

Hamilton's record now stands at 31-28-2-5 through 67 games this season.
