
'Dogs hit three homers in an 8-4 loss to 'Cats

Portland, Maine - Jon Berti hit for the cycle and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (74-58) ran away with an 8-4 win over the Sea Dogs (59-74) on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.
Berti hit for the cycle in order, completing the feat with a solo home run off of Jordan Weems in the top of the ninth. Berti finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs and four runs scored. All three cycles in the Eastern League this year have come against Portland.
New Hampshire had 12 hits, 11 of which came from the top four hitters in the lineup. Bo Bichette went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Harold Ramirez had a pair of hits, including a solo homer. Cavan Biggio had two singles, a walk, and an RBI.
After the Fisher Cats scored in the top of the first, the Sea Dogs answered with a two-run homer by Esteban Quiroz in the bottom of the first to give Portland a 2-1 lead.
New Hampshire took the lead back for good with a three-run third as Bichette and Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs off of Teddy Stankiewicz to make it 4-1.
Stankiewicz (L, 7-13) allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits in five innings, he walked one and struck out one.
Jon Harris (W, 11-5) earned the victory for New Hampshire. The righty allowed three runs on four hits in five innings while walking two and fanning three.
Chad De La Guerra hit a solo home run for Portland in the third to cut the New Hampshire lead down to 4-3, but the Fisher Cats scored four unanswered runs to extend their lead to 8-3 before Tate Matheny hit a solo homer in the ninth for the Sea Dogs off of Dusty Isaacs.
The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) continue their four-game series on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field. LHP Matt Kent (10-8, 3.29) makes his 26th appearance of the season for the Sea Dogs. RHP Jordan Romano (11-7, 3.71) is on the mound for New Hampshire.
