Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - The Lincoln Saltdogs hammered Grand Prairie 15-2 on Thursday, earning a split in the four-game series. Lincoln improves to 19-13 on the season.

The Saltdogs jumped on AirHogs starter Jarod Plummer (2-3) with four runs in the second inning. Argelis Nunez drew a leadoff walk, and was on base with two out when Shawn McGill blasted a two-run home run to left. Roberto Alvarez then drew another walk, and Brandon Jones hit another two-run homer.

That proved to be more than enough for Lincoln starter Jim Paduch (3-2), who allowed just two runs over 5.2 innings pitched. Grand Prairie touched him for single runs in the second and sixth innings, but Paduch pitched out of multiple jams and minimized the damage done against him. Ben Paxton relieved Paduch with two outs and the bases loaded in the sixth inning, got out of the jam with a groundout, and went the rest of the way without allowing a run to earn his first save,

Lincoln, meanwhile, just kept the hit parade going. McGill hit his second homer of the game in the fourth inning, a solo shot to left. Juan Richardson cracked a two-run single in the fifth inning, Albenis Machado had an RBI in the sixth, and the Saltdogs blew it wide open in the seventh. Six runs crossed the plate in that frame, with Gavin Dickey and Machado each hitting two-run doubles in the frame to highlight the action. Dickey added an RBI single in the eighth to close out the scoring.

McGill ended the night 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored. Dickey finished 3-for-6 with three driven and a run scored, while Machado went 2-for-5 and also drove in three runs. Richardson, Argelis Nunez and Rafael Alvarez all had two hits apiece for Lincoln as well.

Lincoln heads to El Paso for a three-game series that begins Friday night at 8:05. Right-hander Chris Britton will take the mound for the Saltdogs.
