Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - Despite allowing a season low 14 shots, including only three shots in the third period, the Hamilton Bulldogs lost 1-0 to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on Wednesday night at Copps Coliseum.
With the loss, the Bulldogs record drops to 29-27-7-5 and they remain tied with the Syracuse Crunch and Edmonton Road Runners for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. Syracuse (67 games) has a game-in-hand on both Hamilton (68 games) and Edmonton (68 games) in the race for the final playoff spot.
The only goal of the game was scored on the power play at 8:57 of the first period after a mad scramble in front of the Bulldogs net. The goal was eventually credited to Colby Armstrong with assists going to Ramzi Abid and Matt Murley.
Between the pipes, Yann Danis made 13 saves on 14 shots for the Bulldogs while suffering the loss. Penguins' netminder Dany Sabourin was perfect stopping all of the 31 shots he faced, earning his seventh win and first shutout of the season.
The Bulldogs were 0-5 on the power play while Wilkes-Barre finished the game 1-6 with the man-advantage.
The Bulldogs next game is on Friday, March 25, when they travel to Edmonton to take on the Road Runners at Rexall Place.
