Crunch Time For The Barons
March 23, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Barons News Release
CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Barons will host their North Division rival, the Syracuse Crunch, in a two-game set on Friday, March 25th and Saturday March 26th with both games beginning at 7pm on the National City Rink located in Gund Arena.
The weekend set will prove pivotal in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. Currently, the Crunch are tied with the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Edmonton Road Runners for the fourth and final playoff position with 70 points. The Barons trail those three teams by just two points in the standings.
On Friday night, the first 3,000 fans will receive an authentically autographed action photo of Barons goaltender Nolan Schaefer. Schaefer has been solid in the Barons late drive to the playoffs, winning 75% of his last 12 starts.
Also on Friday, fans can take advantage of the first NHL Original 6 Night in which they can purchase a $21-lower bowl seat for just $5. To receive the discount, fans must present a coupon, that can be printed from www.clevelandbarons.net, at the Gund Arena Box Office AND have a piece of NHL apparel on.
On Saturday night, the first 1,000 children 14-and-under will receive a Cleveland Clinic Sports Health/Cleveland Barons Lunchbox. They will then get the opportunity to meet Arnold, from Nickelodeon’s hit TV show “Hey Arnold!”, courtesy of Cox Communications.
Following the game on Saturday, Barons captain Matt Carkner will have his head shaved by Cade Helmer. Cade won the opportunity to shave the captainÂ’s head in the Clip CarknerÂ’s Curls for Cancer raffle. All proceeds from the raffle were donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The shaving of Carkner will kick-off the MarcÂ’s Post-Game Skate. The Barons will skate with the fans while signing autographs and posing for photos. To participate in the MarcÂ’s Post-Game Skate, fans must provide their own skates.
Group and individual tickets are available for both games. To order tickets, call the Cleveland Barons Front Office at 216.420.0000 or Crash The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.
