'Dogs acquire goalie in trade

Richmond, VA - The Richmond RiverDogs of the United Hockey League have acquired goalie Brent Belecki from the Muskegon Fury in exchange for a second round draft pick in the 2005 North American Draft and a player to be named later. Belecki joins the ‘Dogs after notching a shutout in his final start with the Fury.

Belecki played in 24 games with Muskegon this season. He was 12-8-3 with a 2.47 goals against average and a save percentage of .910. He was also with Grand Rapids of the AHL this season but did not get into a game. Belecki, a native of Calgary, is in his seventh pro season. He helped lead Huntsville to the 2000 CHL title. Belecki finished his major junior career by backstopping Portland to the 1998 Memorial Cup.

Saturday, January 15 is Pack the Pound Night with free t-shirts for all fans. Saturday, January 22 NASCAR driver and 2004 Rookie of the Year Kasey Kahne will be on hand. The ‘Dogs will wear racing themed jerseys autographed by Kahne that will be auctioned off following the game. There will also be a pre-game VIP party with Kahne.
