LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO – This week the league saw strong and gritty offensive performances as well as solid goaltending between the pipes.

Danbury's Scott Stirling turned away 114 shots recording his third shutout of the season on Friday against the Mechanics. Kalamazoo's Chad Alban had a 3-0-0 record this week with five goals against on 71 shots, winning his last six starts. Rockford's Michel Robinson allowed two goals with 59 saves for a .967 weekly save percentage and 1.00 goals against average. He registered the win over Scott Stirling and the first place, Eastern Division, Danbury Trashers 4-1 on Saturday. Ending the RiverDogs five-game losing streak was Nathan Grobins who earned a 1-0 shutout victory over Elmira in his debut performance on Sunday.

Fort Wayne right wing Jonathon Goodwin notched five goals this week, highlighting the 8-5 victory over the River Otters on Saturday with his second hat trick of the season. Muskegon's Robin Bouchard and Jason Lawmaster led the Fury in goals and assists to the 5-0 victory over Elmira and 5-3 triumph at Richmond. For the first time this season, Motor City tightened its offense climbing from a 4-0 deficit in the first period to a 7-6 shootout loss to Port Huron on Saturday. Flint right wing Rob Valicevic netted two goals and served two helpers on Friday versus Fort Wayne with the game-winning goal, scored by Kevin Kerr. With that goal, Kerr established the new record for most career goals scored (664) in minor league professional hockey.

All-Star Classic The rosters are out and the online fan balloting has begun! Fans have the opportunity to vote for the most deserving UHL players by visiting theuhl.com. Adirondack Frostbite - (1-1-0) – This Saturday, Coach Potvin will coach his 300th professional career game against Richmond...On Friday, right wing Justin Kelly, center David Burgess, and defenseman Jason Jaworski played in their 100th professional games...The Frostbite are 16-1-3 when scoring first and 20-1-3 when leading or tied after two periods of play...Left wing Hugo Belanger has the best shooting percentage in the league at 25.6 percent...The Frostbite have the second best goals for per game average at 3.53...Center Sylvain Cloutier is on a nine-game home point streak...Center David Burgess is on a six-game road point streak.

Danbury Trashers - (2-1-0) – Danbury is 11-9-0 away from the Danbury Ice Arena this season with a 10-5 record while Scott Stirling is in net...Veteran left wing Brent Gretzky, and defensemen Nicholas Bilotto and Mario Larocque are the only Trashers to appear in every road game this season...Left wing Mike Bayrack leads Danbury with six points on three goals against Fort Wayne this season...Pete Ollari's assist on in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Komets was his first of the season for Danbury...Brent Gretzky's four-point night (2g, 2a) against Motor City on January 7th was just the second this season by a Trashers player...Forward John Morlang had four points on two goals on November 14th against Elmira.

Elmira Jackals - (1-1-1) –Elmira had it's three-game winning streak snapped Saturday against Muskegon...Elmira has not scored a goal since the third period of Friday's game with Richmond, extending the Jackals goalless streak reach six periods, a total of 122:57 of scoreless offense...Center Greg Koehler returned from injury Friday night scoring a goal and adding four assists to mark a five-point night, tying him for third in the UHL with 52 points... Greg Hewitt earned his first shutout of the season in a 1-0 shootout loss to the Richmond RiverDogs Sunday. Hewitt also became the first UHL goaltender to pass the 2,000 minutes and 1,000 saves marks this season. He leads the league with 37 games played, 2133 minutes and 1037 saves...Center Eddy Lowe is just 15 points away from tying Randy Murphy for #1 on the Jackals All-Time Scoring Chart.

Flint Generals –(2-0-0) – Right wing Rob Valicevic is on a six-game point scoring streak with four goals and eight assists...Eight of the last 17 games Flint has played have gone into a shootout...Goaltender Marco Emond is 4-1-2 in his last seven starts. Dan McIntyre is 5-1-3 in his last nine starts...The Generals were five for fifteen on the power play last week and allowed only one goal in 14 shorthanded situations...The Generals played to a capacity sellout crowd of 4,421 at Perani Arena on Saturday night against Quad City...Flint will play 12 of the next 17 games on the road from January 12th to February 13th...Left wing Jim Duhart earned his 800th professional career point on Friday (423g, 377a).

Fort Wayne Komets - (1-2-0) – Right wing Jonathon Goodwin notched his second hat trick of the season on Saturday night against the Komets...Kevin St. Pierre had his seven-game win string snapped on Sunday...Right wing Chris Grenville has 198 UHL career goals...Left wing Rob Guinn is one away from 100 UHL career points...Left wing P.C. Drouin has a six-game point streak and Jonathon Goodwin is riding a five-game goal streak and four-game home goal streak...Center Colin Chaulk and Sean Venedam, right wing Jonathon Goodwin and defenseman Jason Kean, will join coach Puhalski in the 2005 All-Star Classic...Tyler Masters earned his twelfth win of the season on Saturday's 8-5 win over Missouri...Colin Chaulk holds a league high 43 assists and 57 points.

Kalamazoo Wings - (4-0-0) – Kalamazoo has won six straight games, a club season high...Kalamazoo is currently 5-0-0 on their six-game road swing...Forward Tim Turner is on a three-game point streak...Center Yannick Carpentier recorded his 200th career point last Saturday at Kansas City...Mark Reeds won his 350th career game last Saturday at Kansas City...Defensemen Daniel Carriere and Greg Labenski have been named to the 2005 Pepsi UHL All-Star Game. Carriere is in fifth place among all UHL defensemen in scoring with 23 points...Kalamazoo is 12-4-0 against the Western Division...Forward Sean Starke is fourth among all rookies in shooting percentage at .169.

Kansas City Outlaws - (0-3-0) – The Outlaws are 1-9-0 in their last 10 games...Kansas City has gone 0-4-1 in their last five home games...Newly acquired right wing Jay Murphy registered his first points as an Outlaw January 9th against Kalamazoo (1g, 1a)...Left wing Mark Lee has six points (2g, 4a) in the last five games...The Outlaws have played the IceHogs three times this year all in Rockford (series is 1-1-1)...The Outlaws are two games in to their current six game home stand (0-2-0 after two games played).

Missouri River Otters - (0-2-2) – Defenseman Bob Rapoza picked up his 200th career assist on Sunday against Quad City...The River Otters have the second most successful penalty kill in the league, at 87.4 percent...The River Otters are 14-8-3 against the Western Division...Missouri is the only team on Team Mountain Dew with two rookies (forward Mark Odut and right wing Justin Quenneville)...Defenseman Mat Snesrud is second in the UHL among defenseman with 19 assists and 25 points

Motor City Mechanics –(0-2-1) – Newcomer center Chris Gignac notched a goal and three assists on Saturday night versus Port Huron...Rookie center David Bonk notched two goals and an assist on Saturday night...Right wing Dan Price and center Blair Manning had one goal and one assist each on Sunday versus Muskegon.

Muskegon Fury - (4-0-0) – The Fury are riding a seven-game winning streak, which is their longest since the 2001-02 season...Muskegon has had three goals against or less in 34 of their first 39 games this season...The Fury rank third in the UHL for most goals for with 131 in 39 games and are second in the league for fewest goals against with a goals against average of 2.46...Left wing B.J. Gaustad ranks second in the league in goal-scoring shooting percentage with 15/60 and a .250 rating...Goaltender Clayton Pool is ranked first in the league with a goals against average of 1.98 and a 12-2-2 record. He has won eight of his last nine starts and is currently on a personal four-game win streak.

Port Huron Beacons – (1-0-0) – Left wing David Beauregard took over the league lead in goals (27) with two on Saturday versus Motor City. He is also on a six-game goal streak...Port Huron is fourth in goals for per game with 3.28...Left wing Trevor Edwards is riding a three-game goal streak...The Beacons have won the last eight of their last ten games...The Beacons are 12-7-0 at home and 9-3-0 after leading after the first period...Port Huron has the second best road power play record with 23.7 percent.

Quad City Mallards - (1-0-1) – Left wing Frantisek Skladany has three goals and an assist in his last four games...Right wing Paul Cabana has six points in the Mallards last four games...Forward Drew Otten played his 100th professional game on Sunday vs. Missouri...The Mallards have scored on the power play in each of their last three games. Over that stretch, the team is 4-12 (33.3%) with the man advantage...Both Mallards games this weekend were settled by a shootout...The Mallards lost 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday in Flint before beating Missouri 5-4 in a shootout on Sunday.

Richmond RiverDogs – (1-3-0) – Nathan Grobins registered his and the club's first shutout of the season in his debut with the ‘Dogs versus Elmira Sunday. It was Richmond's second 1-0 shootout win in club history...The 'Dogs ended a club record five-game losing streak on Sunday...Richmond is 5-0 when held to under 20 shots on goal...The 'Dogs were blanked in regulation Sunday for the second time this season...The 'Dogs are 8-1-2 in one goal games...The 'Dogs played with a full bench Sunday for the first time in eight games...Ryan McIntosh run of eight straight starts in net ended Sunday...The 'Dogs added rookie center Brett Cross to the lineup Sunday...Defenseman Mike Dombkiewicz six-game scoring streak ended Sunday.

Rockford IceHogs - (2-0-0) – Center J.C. Ruid tied an IceHogs club record this week when he tallied goals in five straight games. During this stretch, the Hogs captain scored seven goals...Saturday's game against Danbury was Rockford's first against the UHL's Eastern Division this season...Coming into the season, Rockford held their opponents to one-goal 33 times in five seasons. So far this season, the Hogs have held their opponents to one-goal 12 times...The Hogs have outscored the opposition 44-24 in the third period...Rockford is 11-1-0 in the second game of back-to-back games.

SHER-WOOD PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard completed the week with ten points (4g, 6a) in four games. On Wednesday, he posted two goals in the first, and an assist in the second versus Richmond. On Friday, he tallied an assist and the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory over the Frostbite. On Saturday he notched three helpers and on Sunday at Motor City, a goal and an assist. Bouchard is tied for third in leading scorers with fifty-two points, is fourth in goals with twenty-three, and is tied for second with eleven power play goals. The 31-year-old Jonquiere, Quebec native is in his eleventh professional season and ninth with the Fury.

SOUTHERN SPORTS SUPPLY UHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Danbury's Scott Stirling finished the week with a 2-1-0 record, 1.67 GAA, and a .957 save percentage. On Friday he recorded his third shutout of the season stopping all thirty-three Mechanics shots. On Saturday, he stopped 40 of 44 shots in a 1-4 loss to Rockford, and on Sunday, turned away 41 of 42 shots registering the 2-1 victory over the Komets. Stirling holds first in wins with a 21-7-1 record and is fifth in minutes (1737). The 27-year old Norwood, Massachusetts native is currently third with 890 saves and first with five shootout wins.

Kalamazoo left wing Nick Bootland, who was reassigned to the Cleveland Barons in late September, has three goals and five assists (37gp)...Flint left wing Jay Henderson, who was called-up to the Providence Bruins at the start of the UHL season, has notched four goals and six assists in thirty-six games played...
